We arrived in Washington on the 5th May after a few days stopover in Welwyn Garden City to see family and friends, so thanks to Rolande for picking us up from Heathrow and JJ for putting us up.
We got to Washington in mid afternoon local time so with the 5 hour time difference we were pretty tired – even though the plane was pretty empty so I had 4 seats to myself and so could lie down the whole way over. Therefore, we decided to just get our car and get ourselves sorted, buy a GPS and stay local to the hotel. We managed to find a Hooters bar just up the road so I was happy – though Elsa made me sit with my hands over my eyes!!
On Wednesday, we went into the city centre to do the full tourist bit.We walked round the main tourist areas and the weather was lovely so was very enjoyable even though the Capitol building was covered in scaffold. We stumbled across the Hirschorn museum and sculpture gallery which was one of the best modern art galleries we’ve been to and was a pleasant surprise.
We have to go out now so will post more updates later so here are a few pictures….
